NIGHT BY ELIE WEISEL, READING RESPONSES: KEYS TO SUCCESS
As it states on the rubric, here are the keys to a successful reading response.
You may use “I” statements in these responses. Please cite quotes with page numbers.
1. Find a quote to anchor your response around. It should be a quote that speaks to you personally (text to self), to another text, or to the broader world. Why did this quote catch your eye?
2. Put the quote in your own words and display an understanding of text and vocabulary. If there is an IDK word, be prepared to show us you know the definition of that word by how you analyze the quote.
3. Find and explain the deeper meaning to the quote and connect it to text, self, and the world as well as many characters, bigger themes, and concepts. Details and specificity must be included.
4.Show and explain full understanding of figurative & literal meaning and connect it to the book and within the context of History. What figurative language does the author use and why does he use it? How is this connected to the larger context of the Holocaust?
5. Be specific and detailed in your writing.
6. Use complete sentences, a well-structured paragraph/s, and proofread for grammar and spelling.
7. Don't forget to cite your photos and the banner photo for this page!
8. These should be posted as BLOGS on your website.
